Reedsburg Utility Launches Symmetrical Speeds!

According to the FCC consumer facts website a Symmetrical Service Line is when the data rate in both upstream and downstream traffic are equal.”

July 26, 2006 (Reedsburg, WI) As a pioneer in municipal communications, Reedsburg Utility Commission once again takes a pioneer approach into launching their new residential offerings of bi-directional or symmetrical broadband speeds.

Reedsburg Utility announces the availability of their new symmetrical speeds consisting of: 1Mbpsx1Mbps, 5Mbpsx5Mbps, and 10Mbpsx10Mbps.  Reedsburg Utility is one of the first within the state to launch symmetrical speeds of this magnitude of bandwidth. By offering symmetrical upload and download speeds consumers can do even more in a shorter amount of time.  From downloading music files & movies to uploading websites, or even using Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) services.  “We’re stepping up our system to show the advantages of a fiber plant over traditional copper,” said General Manager, Dave Mikonowicz.  Although fiber optics have a much larger capacity for data, such as allowing speeds of 50Mbps and up, users have not been utilizing significant amounts of bandwidth to offer such speeds.  The superior fiber optic network allows flexibility with bandwidth speeds as well as allows plenty of room for growth.  “Our customers deserve great services and that’s what we’re giving them,” stated Mikonowicz.  Fiber optics have been named the “future proof” infrastructure for its incredible capacity to transport data, unlike its predecessor, copper plant, which has had to rely on maximizing old copper plant to meet data demand needs.

High Speed Internet access has become an increasingly important role in our day to day routines and businesses, and is just one of the amenities that people relocating to the area expect to find.  According to the Annual Power Broker Report and Survey Real Trends 500, consumers in search of relocating are driven and attracted to locations with High Speed Internet access.  Reedsburg has become a noticeable area to live and do business in because of these amenities and the quality of life Reedsburg has to offer.

Another offer recently launched by Reedsburg Utility is the Blaze Bundle consisting of Unlimited Telephone, Cable TV, and 5Mx5M High Speed Internet.  The package is available to new and existing customers, which is not something you see very often.  "We want to be able to reward all of our customers by offering new services and packages to everyone," said Director of Marketing, Catherine Rice.  “The Utility has taken an honest approach in their marketing campaigns as well as trying to educate consumers about their bills and their options,” said Rice.
