Winter Energy Efficiency Tips:
Set your
thermostat to 68 degrees by day and much lower by night. Keep your
heating ducts and equipment clean. Clean or replace you furnace
filters regularly.
Get a "SMART" Thermostat. Install a programmable thermostat to raise or
lower temperature while you're asleep or at work.
Put your window coverings to work. Think of drapes and shades as window
insulation. Use them to let warming sunlight in or to keep heat in or out.
Repair leaky duct work. Check for leaks in air ducts when furnace is on.
Seal leaks with "mastic" tape. A qualified contractor can help.
Get rid or drafts. Install weather-stripping around doors, window frames,
and AC units. Use caulk where pipes and window frames meet the wall.
Are you in the process of purchasing a home? Look for these
features: Passive solar, energy efficient heating and cooling systems,
tightly sealed ducts, proper insulation, and energy saving windows.

Community Benefits
Public power is an American tradition of community choice and community
control over a vital public service. A municipal utility is a valuable
asset to the community, in part because the utility is more than a
provider of electricity - it is also an involved citizen.
Reedsburg Utility has placed much emphasis on improving the local quality
of life through active involvement in the community. This is the higher
calling of public power - the seamless connection between providing that
vital public service and making the community a better place to live.
